| Sad Day in history today - Las Vegas is gone - so is Elvis | | The Las Vegas Strip - (although not the original strip - Fremont street is that and still there) After 65 years of continous operation, The Frontier Hotel and Casino was emploded this morning using 1,000 pounds of explosives. 2nd restort to open on the Las Vegas Strip - opened in 1942, 16 stories. It hosted Elvis Presley's first Las Vegas appearance in 1956 and the final preformance of Diana Ross and the Supremes on January 14, 1970. This is the last of the originals (best of my knowledge) I've watched the other 10 original casinos be emploded over the years. Sure is a sad day to watch history go up in tons of dust and fall in bits and pieces. I lived in Las Vegas for awhile. These "oldies" were just the best and funnest and I won money at them but never at the "newer" resort casinos. Stardust was dumped few months ago (Wayne Newton got out in time!) I don't think I will be returning to Las Vegas. IT is not what it used to be. And to say it is allnew - yeah it is. But to me, without the history - it just isn't any fun anymore. | |

| Beyonce's role in the new movie Dreamgirls | | I have been researching the movie Dreamgirls which is a remake of the book/broadway play Dreamgirls written by Mary Wilson. The book/broadway play is based off of Mary's life as a Supreme in the 60's and 70's. Beyonce play's the lead character Dena in the movie but is really playing the role of Diana Ross. We all know that Diana Ross used the Supremes to go solo. My question is...don't you think that Beyonce fit's that role to a T? Her career somewhat reflects Diana's because is many ways, Beyonce used her group, Destiny's Child, to eventually go solo. The music business is a dirty game. | |

| Michael's Daughter and Brooke Shields gave the best speeches | | The memorial service was good yesterday but not so much so that it truly got to me except for two spots. When Brooke Shields spoke of her friendship with Michael and when his daughter spoke. I broke down at that point. I grew up with the Jackson Five and used to be a fan of Michael but that faded out as I got older. I never hated him or anything like that, but just lost interest. How did everyone feel when they saw his daughter speak about what a great father he was and about Brooke Shields friendship with him and where in the hell was Diana Ross?
