| | Do you know how it feels to be free? | | Nina Simone is one of my favorite artists of all time. If she's not number one then she's at least in the top three. I found this video of her describing how it feels to be free and I am even more impressed by this very strong and talented woman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSUlgOzARy4I enjoy listening to her music. Her voice soothes and moves me. And her message, you can hardly get that from any musician nowadays. Here's one of my favorite songs by Nina Simone:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCodBBnUYRE&feature=relatedI wish I knew how it would feel to be free
I wish I could break all the chains holding me
I wish I could say all the things that I should say
Say 'em loud say 'em clear for the whole round world to hear
I wish I could share all the love that's in my heart
Remove all the bars that keep us apart
I wish you could know what it means to be me
Then you'd see and agree that every man should be freeI wish I could give all I'm longin' to give
I wish I could live like I'm longin' to live
I wish I could do all the things that I can do
And though I'm way overdue, I'd be starting anew.Do you know how it feels to be free? How does...

| | Miami Vice soundtracks - unexpectedly un Latino like | | If you are fond of electronic guitar music, then this is for you. However, I was expecting more Latino music here but I was disappointed. The best Latino I have ever get here is the Pennies in my Pocket by Emilo Estefan and the salsa beat Arranca by Manzanita. However, unexpectedly, you will appreciate the variety on the types of music. I particularly like the rock-like upbeat music by Mogwai We're No Here and the silhouette heart-beat sounds of Nina Simone's classic Sinnerman. I also loved the gripping but sexy strings on Ramblas by King Britt. Another King Brit's also here, New World in My View where I was always stupefied by the awesome voice blendings. If you are very particular about the movie, you will be disappointed because not all the music on the movie is here such as the one by Linkin Park. But generally, the CD is really worth the cash. | |
| | Who is you Diva? | | Many singer are vocally great, I like Whitney ( before bobby brown), Tina Turner ( after Ike), but also Aretha, Nina Simone... Who would you categorized as Diva? | |
| | Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten - worth seeing? | | Julian Temple's film based around Joe's life before, during and after The Clash. According to press coverage it's made up of old interviews that Strummer gave including ones from his brief time as a DJ for the BBC world service, non related archive clips to illustrate various points (similar to what Julian did for The Sex Pistols in The Filth and The Fury), rare and unseen home video & photos of Joe's childhood, live performances with the 101ers and The Clash, and
old friends (including Mick & Topper) and famous fans (including Bono & Johnny Depp!!!) sharing their memories and opinions round campfires around the world. It's been getting quite a bit of positive press coverage and I've heard good things about it from other fans.Has any one here seen it (it been shown at Cannes & a few showings arround the UK) - what did/do you think? Is it worth me trying to get into Exeter to see it?the soundtrack looks interesting too1. Joe Strummer - "Punk Rock Warlord" 2. The Clash - White Riot (Previously unreleased alternate demo mix)
3. Rachid Taha - Rock The Casbah 4. BBC World Service
5. Elvis Presley - Crawfish 6. Tim Hardin - Black Sheep Boy
7. MC5 - Kick Out... | |
| | Wich singer do you like? | | I like listning to "Nina Simone", Edith Piaf, Frank Sinatra songs; and in Arabic to the greatest " OmKalthoum" and " Faïza Ahmed"
Who is your prefered singer?
| | Old and new songs | | I still remember songs that I hadf listen to, far away, 20 or 30 years ago!
I still can wistle its melodies and regain its chorus!
Those were eternel songs that remain in your memory; Not as like as Nowadays songs that are as ephemere as a mosquito, and if you bear listen to the end of such song, till the end, you'll soon forget the beginning; it are good songs only for moving bottocks up and down.
Nina simone, brel, Piaf, Omkalthoum and many others late singers, they will die again if they listen to nowadays songs.
