myLot Discussions on The Police Box Sets| Who are your favourite TV Characters? | | Why are they your favourites? Are they funny? Menacing? Can you relate to them?I have a few favourites. The first one I thought of was Gene Hunt from the TV shows Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. He is often a foul mouthed, violent police officer but he can also be absolutely hilarious for being so ridiculous. I have at times also felt sorry for him. I can;t really explain why he is so likeable. Perhaps I love to hate him? Or hate to love him? Haha!Another would be the Doctor from Doctor Who in his forth, ninth and tenth incarnations (I haven't checked them all out though yet!). Each actor has brought their own take to the role but at heart the character is actually the same alien who travels around in a police box but especially in recent years, he's played as such a hilarious, moving and very loveable character. I'll miss David Tennant when he leaves the role this year but I will also look forward to Matt Smith's take on the role! A couple of female characters I really like (although I've heard some people hate) are Rose Tyler from Doctor Who and Gwen Cooper from Torchwood/ Doctor Who. They're two very different characters but I find them incredibly well acted by...
| | If you are stop by the police........... | | I have a question in regarding to your own rights. If you were stop by a police, and you were accused of speeding. From your memory, you remember that you didn't drive over the speed limit, do you have the right to ask The Police officer to show you the proof of his accusation? Like the reading on his speeding gun?
Because it won't be fair base those police officers assumption that you were speeding, and there is no actual proof whether our average citizens were speeding or not. They simply write you a ticket and you have to go pay the fine.
So, can you ask for a proof at the moment or contest at court? ll also look forward to Matt Smith's take on the role! A couple of female characters I really like (although I've heard some people hate) are Rose Tyler from Doctor Who and Gwen Cooper from Torchwood/ Doctor Who. They're two very different characters but I find them incredibly well acted by Billie Piper and Eve Myles as well as them being very realistic despite the very unreal happenings that they experience. So who are yours?
| | Pagan police officers granted right to festival holidays. | | http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1276921/Pagan-police-win-right-time-festivals.htmlThis is good news and brings it in line with various other faiths who can claim time off for their holy days. However the comment "What has it come to when a cop gets time off so he can sit about making spells or DANCE AROUND THE PLACE DRINKING HONEY BEER WITH A WAND IN HIS HAND?" cracked me up totally. | |
| | If a police officer violate a traffic law, who gonna write him a ticket? | | I just wonder, does a police officer driving a police car has special authority, even though they are breaking the traffic law as many people saw it? Many times, one or two police car was rushing over 55 miles in a 35 street. Some polices even turn the siren on for the intention of not want to wait in red light. After they pass the red light, they simply turn it off. For that, who are going to give them ticket, I was just curious.
Also, even a civilian file a complaint report to the police supervisor, would they even consider take a look at the complaint report or investigate it? Which I doubt it.
| | Why do employers overlook EMTs, police, and army veterans when hiring?? | | I'm an emt who works for a private company for $12 an hour, all I want is a 2nd job (in customer service) paying about the same thing and it doesn't have to be in the health field, put me behind a desk or something, doorman, I don't care. But I guess its ok for employers to OVERLOOK us EMTs and army veterans after all the hard work we do and the risks we take, just so they can hire some moron with a bachelors or something. Whoopie doo!!! I'm applying for a friggin customer service job, I have 8 years exp of customer service, 2 of which I've been an EMT. All those years should qualify me for any damn customer service job.ON TOP of that, EMS is a very HIGH level of customer service because we are SAVING LIVES and TREATING PATIENTS. That's much more personal than helping someone get a different shirt size or giving someone their change. One time I applied for a cust servce rep position that paid $39,000 per year. Now this interviewer knew about all the experience I had in customer service. YET the position goes to someone else. What the heck, did the other person have***9*** years of experience as opposed to my 8??? LOL. To anyone who wants to get into EMS, police,... | |
| | Do you trust the police? | | I was asked this question recently. I was asked if I thought I could trust the police, as well as would I believe them more than a civilian, if they were being interviewed.I personally, don't trust them. I think they will lie to get whatever they want. I don't think they are totally dishonest, but I wouldn't put it past them to lie. But, I can't say whether or not I would believe them more than a regular person. I think that all depends on what they are being questioned about. In most cases I would expect both to lie, but I think the police would be more likely to lie to cover things up.What do you think? | |

| | What defines "police brutality"? | | I see a lot of it reported on the news, very frequently actually. What's the deal with the rise, or the rise in exposure at least, of police brutality incidents. Who is to blame in the situation>>? | |
| | Should I go to the police station to put in a report? | | My daughter and I were walking across the street. I heard a person say something that sounded like is that that bitc* sharon. My daughter already has two slices across her face I don't want any more problems. This is one time my daughter was in the right and I don't know what to do. We live in the heart of... | |
| | Police Officer and a Hypothetical scenario | | I want to run this by you lotters and see what you think about this. A police Officer finds a pill in his car. He doesn't know what it is or where it came from. So he seeks out an answer to the identification of this pill. OK. Now it more than likely came from someone he had transported. He isn't going to be interrogated nor will any legal issues arise for this officer. Now lets think about this from the opposite side of the fence so to speak. Someone (non-law enforcement) gets pulled over. The officer notices a pill on the floor of the car. He questions the person about the discovery. The person replies that they do not know what it is or how it got there. Right? just for the sake of this argument lets say that they really do not know. Do you think the officer is going to believe them? Or give them the benefit of the doubt? You think this person will suffer no consequences and go on with their day? Is it fair that someone can suffer from the actions of someone else? Would love to know what you think. | |
